How It Works

How to Calculate Concrete

Concrete volume is calculated by multiplying length × width × thickness. The result in cubic feet is divided by 27 to get cubic yards — the standard unit for ordering ready-mix concrete in the US.

Always add a waste factor of 10% for standard pours. For complex shapes or first-time pours, use 15–20%.

Ready-mix vs. bags: For anything over 1 cubic yard, ready-mix is more economical.
